WordPress Tip: Adding Security to Your WordPress Website
As a WordPress website owner, one of the things that I would recommend you do is add security to your website. This recommendation is being made to help you be prepared against hackers who may try to hack your website.
When you add security to your WordPress website, it’s like adding an extra lock on the door to your house. It can give you an extra sense of security.
To help you add security to your website, I thought it would be good to suggest the following plugins:
- WP Security Scan: Scans your WordPress installation for security vulnerabilities and suggests corrective actions.
- Secure WordPress: A little help to secure your WordPress installation: Remove Error information on login page; adds index.html to plugin directory; removes the wp-version, except in admin area.
- SecurePress Website Security Analyzer: SecurePress is a “Live” patent pending security system for WordPress.
With the introduction of SecurePress, WordPress owners now have a clear choice in website protection. No more piece-meal security patches and plugins. The SecurePress widget installs enough free features to get you started towards securing your site. The ability to see and record your attacks is an excellent starting point. The free reports and statistics available in the dashboard help you to better understand the level and magnitude of these attacks. The free price tag is another good reason to download immediately and get started. When you are ready and after familiarizing yourself with the dashboard, you may want to upgrade to the full version to enable the vast blocking capabilities of SecurePress Pro and turn this application into a monster security shield.
Wordpress and Social Media Plugins
As a WordPress website owner, one of the things that you should integrate into your website is social media interactivity. Integrating social media will allow your website visitors to interact with you via social media websites and for you to show how you are connected.
To add social media to your WordPress website, you can look to plugins that will enable you to integrate social media. The purpose of integrating social media into your website is to allow you to share your activity on sites like Twitter, Facebook or even Digg. Below are a few WordPress plugins that can help you integrate social media into your website:
- TweetMeme: according to their website, Tweetmeme is a service which aggregates all the popular links on twitter to determine which links are popular. Tweetmeme is able to categorize these links into categories and subcategories, making it easy to
- filter out the noise to find what you’re interested in.
- Tweet This: Adds a “Tweet This Post” link to every post and page. Shortens URLs in advance through Th8.us, eating up only 19 of 140 characters. Also included: Plurk, Yahoo Buzz, Delicious, Digg, Ping.fm, Reddit, and StumbleUpon.

Mobile Solution For WordPress Website Owners
When using a cell phone or mobile phone to visit websites, it’s always great to find a website that has thought about mobile users who need to view their website in a special way. As a WordPress website owner, you can now offer a special view of your website using a plugin developed by BraveNewCode.
The name of the plugin is WPtouch and when it is applied to a WordPress website, it doesn’t affect the design when viewing your website from a computer. According to their website, WP is…

WordPress Tip: Changing Your WordPress Password
I’ve been asked frequently what the steps are that you need to take in order to change your WordPress password. So I thought it would be a good idea to share the simple process with you.
- Administration access: If you need to change your password after setting up your user account and you are logged in, just click on “Users” and then “My Profile. Scroll down until you see at the bottom where you can enter your password twice. Make sure you type the same password both times. Make sure to “Save your changes”.
- User access: If you are just a regular user and are already logged in, you should see “Your Profile” on the sidebar that you need to click. If the sub-menu “Your Profile” is already showing then you should be able to see your “User” profile. Scroll down until you see at the bottom where you can enter your password twice. Make sure you type the same password both times. Make sure to “Save your changes”.
- If you haven’t logged in and have forgotten your password, you can go to the “Forgot Password” link on your website by typing: http://[your domain name goes here]/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword. You will then go through a process of changing your password. You will need to know your “Username” for your blog in order to use this process.
